Aeolian Politics
In collaboration with the Ethnographic Terminalia Collective and Dominic Boyer this ethnographic, interactive art installation came to life at the Emmanuel Gallery in Denver, Colorado. There, we constructed the “wind house” to bring the near-hurricane force wind of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec indoors, to be felt in all its tempestuousness. This was made possible by a high capacity, special effects fan. Video footage showed visitors the fraught politics of wind power and renewable energy development in this region of Southern Mexico. The poet Víctor Terán read his “The North Wind Whips” in its original Zapotec/ binnizá as well as Spanish.
